Just Run Program PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Due to overwhelming popularity, JUST RUN @ CMS is looking for 2-5 committed Assistant Parent Coordinators to help facilitate the program, which will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15pm at CMS beginning March 30 through the last week of school. If we are unable to obtain enough parent volunteers, we will need to limit the number of students able to participate. Please find volunteer information HERE.
Math Acceleration Opportunity
Chardon Local Schools is committed to continuing to give students opportunities to challenge themselves and their learning and invites students currently enrolled in 5th, 6th or 7th grade to consider their current math placement. We will be offering a summer learning opportunity for students to voluntarily complete a hybrid (both online and in-person) course, with a “final exam” taken the last week of July. Students who successfully pass the test will be placed in the next level math course for the 20-21 academic year. This opportunity is open to ALL students currently in grades 5, 6 and 7. This is also an opportunity for students who are in the single accelerated 6th grade (mat610) math track to attempt to move to the double accelerated track. It is our goal that this will limit the need for students to “double up” on math classes in high school in order to access higher-level classes. There will be a parent information meeting for all students / parents interested in learning more about this opportunity held on Wednesday, March 11 @ 6pm in the LGIR.
** students who scored above the 95%ile on the MAP or an average of 120 on the nonverbal and quantitative subtests of the CogAT benchmarks will automatically be invited to participate in this experience. Additional information will be provided directly to those students and families as it pertains to them.
PTO Meeting and Nominations
The next CMS PTO meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/11. PTO is the BEST way to become actively involved in the life of CMS. Every event, party, gathering, etc. is run through PTO to organize, seek approval and potentially fund. Have great ideas to bring new or different assemblies or activities to CMS, then this is the group for you! Nominations for Officers for the 20-21 school year will be coming out shortly. Not sure your ready for an officer role, consider chairing a committee or event (or proposing a new one), and be ready to start the 20-21 school year with a bang! We hope to see you there on March 11 at 6:30pm in the media center.

Please find the forms to purchase tickets for Blue Man Group on April 18 at 1:30 pm HERE and My Fair Lady on May 1 at 7:30 pm HERE. Forms for both are due by March 10 to Munson PTO.
Testing
The Ohio AIR tests, while only one data point in time, are the most public measure of schools’ effectiveness and student learning. We ask that you please do everything possible to be sure that your child is in attendance on the following days:
April 15 & 16: ELA (all grades)
April 22 & 23: 5th Grade Science
April 28 & 29: Math (all grades)
On all grade-level supply lists students were asked to have headphones / ear buds, as well as state-approved calculators for those taking the 6th grade math test and higher. Recently we have noticed that many students do not have these items with them in class. Please talk with your child and make sure that they have earbuds / headphones and an approved calculator daily in all classes.
