11 CHS students earn Governor's Merit Scholarships

Nov. 14, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — 11 Chardon High School seniors have been awarded $20,000 scholarships to be used at colleges and universities throughout the state of Ohio through the Governor’s Merit Scholarship program.

The scholarship, through the Ohio Department of Higher Education, provides up to $5,000 per year for four years of full-time education at a public or private, nonprofit college or university in Ohio. 

The Governor’s Merit Scholarship program is meant to reward high academic achievement in high school (students who place in the top 5% of their class) and encourage them to continue their education in Ohio. 

The CHS students who earned the scholarship based on their weighted GPAs are:

  • Riley Ford
  • Grayson Hallam
  • Cash Johnson
  • Abby Kolcum
  • Elaina Mardula
  • Lillian Meyer
  • Connor Mosher
  • Jacob Nieset
  • Katelyn Silk
  • Robert Silk
