April 25, 2025 (CHARDON, OH) — The Chardon Board of Education recently recognized Chardon High School Junior Rosemarie McDonald for her outstanding academic performance in earning a perfect 36 on her recent ACT exam.
Earning a perfect ACT score is an incredibly rare achievement, placing McDonald among the top test-takers nationwide.
“When I saw my score, I didn’t believe it,” she said. “I was on FaceTime with my friend, and I asked her if there were example scores, because I didn’t think it could possibly be real.”
Last year McDonald earned a score of 31 on the ACT. Determined to improve, she worked through practice materials in the weeks leading up to the ACT, focusing on increasing her math skills in hopes of boosting her score.
McDonald is the only Chardon High School student to earn a perfect ACT score in the past five years.
At the board’s April meeting, President Karen Blankenship presented McDonald with an honorary certificate, recognizing her “exceptional effort, relentless dedication and outstanding academic excellence in earning a perfect score of 36 on her ACT exam, an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects her hard work and passion for learning.”
Along with academic achievement, McDonald is highly active in her school community, taking part in several extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, soccer and basketball.
Please join us in congratulating Rosemarie for this significant achievement!
