Feb. 12, 2025 (CHARDON, OH) — Chardon Local Schools’ Science Olympiad teams achieved outstanding success at the highly competitive Mentor Invitational on Feb. 8.
The Chardon Middle School Science Olympiad team placed 7th out of 33 teams and won 13 medals in 23 science-based events.
Individual placers:
1st place Meteorology: William Monkiewicz, James Wroblewski;
1st place Fossils: Colby Sapp, Ben Majetich;
2nd place Road Scholar: William Monkiewicz;
3rd place Codebusters: Ryan Furjanic, Samuel Monkiewicz, William Monkiewicz;
3rd place Dynamic Planet: Ryan Furjanic, William Monkiewicz;
3rd place Optics: James Wroblewski, Ben Majetich;
6th place Entomology: Colby Sapp, Ava Galhotra;
6th place See It Don't Say It: Addison Fabian, Luke Flamm;
7th place Ecology: Colby Sapp, Ben Majetich;
7th place Tower: Samuel Monkiewicz, Adriana Baldwin;
7th place Helicopter: William Monkiewicz, James Wroblewski;
7th place Reach for the Stars: James Wroblewski, Nathan Germovsek;
8th place Anatomy + Physiology: Colby Sapp, Samuel Monkiewicz.
The Chardon High School Science Olympiad team took 8th place at the Mentor Invitational.
Individual placers:
7th in Codebusters: Alex Monkiewicz, Abby Prats, and Cash Johnson;
2nd in Fossils: Seianna Coon and Tim Wilder;
6th in Geologic Mapping: Seianna Coon and Alex Monkiewicz;
2nd in Entomology: Andrew Prats and Seianna Coon;
4th in Electric Vehicle: Alex Monkiewicz and Abby Prats;
3rd in Dynamic Planet: Seianna Coon and Cassie Bright;
4th in Robot Tour: Alex Monkiewicz and Tim Wilder;
Write It Do It: 5th place Abby Prats and Austin Prats.
The teams are now preparing for regionals, where the top seven teams advance to state competition at Ohio State University.
