September 23, 2022 — Chardon High School's CREW Manufacturing class, navigated by CREW faculty members Mrs. Butala and Mrs. Britt, welcomed three guest speakers on Sept. 9 to deliver a wealth of information to students on apprenticeships/careers in the carpentry, millwrighting, floor laying and pile driving trades:
Mr. Dan Sustin
Director of Education for Ohio
Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters & Millwright Joint Apprenticeship
Area Business Representatives:
Mr. Robert Hunter
Chardon High School Alum ‘10
U.S. Air Force Veteran
Carpentry Instructor
Mr. Jason Powers
Millwright/Welding/ Industrial Maintenance Instructor
Mr. Sustin explained to the class who they are, what they do and all that they have to offer, while the area business representatives — Mr. Hunter and Mr. Powers — were instrumental in delivering information from both the “training side” and the “business side” of what today’s carpenters, millwrights, floor layers, and pile drivers do.
CREW navigator Mrs. Butala stated, “We also want to thank Mr. Sustin for inviting CREW students and staff to attend their annual Open House and Apprentice Contest on Oct. 20. We look forward to the experience.”
