Sept. 19, 2024 (CHARDON, OH) — Since graduating from Chardon High School, Taylor “Godine” Mortensen has found plenty of success in the employment field of human resources.

Mortensen, CHS ‘09, has had a 12 year career in human resources, currently working as a workforce planning specialist with Rockwell Automation.

“I am responsible for our early career strategy and skill development for the enterprise,” she said.

Along with her full time job, Mortensen also serves as an executive on the board of directors at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association in Madison, where she is also a regular performer.

She also serves as the theatrical director for Beachwood Schools.

Mortensen’s involvement in performing arts dates back to her time at CHS where she was involved with the drama club. She served as president of that club in 2008-2009. Along with Drama Club, Mortensen was also involved with Free Harmony, National Honors Society, Tri-M and she played volleyball.

She is thankful for the “many wonderful teachers” she had at Chardon who inspired her love for performing arts.

“As I have continued to pursue music and theater, even as an adult, I would like to thank my drama director and senior year English Teacher, Madelon Horvath and Choir Teacher, Fritz Streiff,” Mortensen said.

After graduating from Chardon, Mortensen pursued the 4Es path of enrollment at Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Conflict Management and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She began her career in human resources at TMW Systems, where she was promoted from an HR coordinator to HR generalist. She was hired at Rockwell Automation in 2018 as a senior HR generalist and was promoted to her current role as workforce planning specialist in 2022.

Mortensen has continued to pursue additional education — she earned a Master of Business Administration from Kent State in 2024.

Thank you, Taylor, for sharing your Chardon 4Es journey!
