Nov. 5, 2021 — Chardon Schools Foundation has launched its 2021 Fall Fundraiser with a goal of raising $20,000 through online donations. The event extends through Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Also known as the Academic Boosters, the non-profit serves all five district schools — Chardon Early Learning Center, Chardon High School, Chardon Middle School, Munson Elementary and Park Elementary, annually awarding nearly $30,000 in grants for creative and innovative classroom projects designed to enrich student learning.

During the past 18 months, the Foundation, which is run exclusively by volunteers in the community, opted to forgo its annual fundraising events — the online/G-TV auction and Firecracker 5K race — in response to the pandemic.

CSF’s most recent fundraiser was the online/G-TV auction held in March 2020 shortly before the state shutdown due to COVID-19.

“We are really hoping to receive strong community support for our fall fundraiser after having an unprecedented fundraising hiatus,” said CSF board president Dave Jevnikar. “We really need help from the community as we prepare for our fall grant review session. Community support is what enables us to stay true to our mission.”

Since its establishment in 1989, CSF has provided nearly $500,000 in grants to the district’s schools, of which nearly $14,000 in grants were provided this past spring alone in the areas of technology, theater arts, academic competitions, environmental science, robotics, and English language arts.

Funding for the grants is made possible only through the generosity of the community — individuals, businesses and sponsors,” said Jevnikar. “And we are incredibly grateful for that support.”
