March 26, 2022 — A major re-plumbing project to replace all copper cold water lines at Munson Elementary launched this week. This project is one of 11 upcoming facilities undertakings outlined by assistant superintendent Mr. Steven Kofol in his spring/summer '22 districtwide projects presentation at the February 22 regular board meeting.

Details on the Munson re-plumbing project, estimated at a total cost of approximately $10K and funded by the district's Permanent Improvement (PI) monies, are as follows:

PHASE I — Spring Break '22
All copper cold water lines in the school's boiler room were replaced with poly lines. Thank you to maintenance team members Mr. Eric Soeder and Mr. Ernie Haaser for their hard work on Phase I this week.

PHASE II — Summer '22
1) All other cold copper water lines at Munson Elementary will be replaced with poly pipe.
2) All classroom sinks at Munson will be removed (**exception: art classroom sink**).

WHY RE-PLUMBING?
This extensive, school-wide, re-plumbing strategy at Munson Elementary is in response to a series of water tests that have not met US Environmental Protection Agency standards since the installation of a new well at the school.

As those water test results were released to the district, they were reported to Munson Elementary families and posted for the required duration on the district website.

WILL CLASSROOM SINKS be REPLACED?
No. Due to what would be a significant expense plus intensive time investment involved with the replacement of ALL classroom sinks, the plan is to remove those sinks from the school without replacement.

PROJECTED COMPLETION of Phase II
Prior to the start of the 2022-23 school year.
