Chardon Schools Earn Ohio PBIS Silver Awards 2022
Congratulations PBIS Silver Award Winners 2022: Chardon Early Learning Center, Chardon Middle School, Munson Elementary and Park Elementary - Awarded by Ohio PBIS Network

November 3, 2022  Congratulations to Chardon Early Learning Center, Chardon Middle School, Munson Elementary School and Park Elementary School, each earning the Ohio PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Silver Award 2022, a recognition of specific PBIS milestones achieved in their schools during the 2021-22 school year.

About PBIS
The PBIS program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to enhance social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students through a three-tiered approach focused on prevention of behavioral issues rather than punishment.

The Ohio PBIS Recognition Awards System identifies schools that exemplify best practices in the implementation of PBIS. These schools demonstrate best practices within their system, and also are open and transparent in the sharing of their knowledge and resources, including application data, with other schools and open to involvement with the Ohio PBIS facilitation/coaching supports.

Criteria for PBIS Silver Level Recognition
Silver Level Recognition schools must meet all the characteristics of Bronze level schools and implement with a higher level of fidelity. These schools also implement Tier II and/or Tier III supports as needed. Tier I, II and/or III supports are provided through a data-based problem solving process within existing team structures.

These schools can also produce evidence of advanced tiers of PBIS implementation as a result of data-based decision making. Schools in year two of implementation or beyond are eligible for Silver Level Recognition.

Recognition of 2021-22 PBIS Achievements
CELC, CMS, Munson and Park will be awarded their Silver 2022 certificates from Ohio PBIS in the upcoming weeks and also be formally recognized at the annual Ohio PBIS and Ohio Leadership Advisory Council virtual showcase event on Dec. 6. The theme for this one-day conference is All In: For Ohio’s Schools, Students and Communities.

Superintendent Michael Hanlon stated: "We are proud of the dedicated efforts of our 2021-22 PBIS teams and recognize that it is through their diligent learning, planning, data collection and logging, and cross-training efforts that implementation of PBIS in our classroom settings has proven successful, promoting positive outcomes for Hilltopper students.”
