September 27, 2023 — Congratulations to the 65 Chardon High School recipients of the College Board's 2023 Advanced Placement Scholar Awards, recognizing Hilltopper high achievement on AP exams taken at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. Each year, nationwide, AP Scholar Award recipients are announced in late summer for exceptional achievement on AP exams taken the previous spring.
AP Scholar Awards affirm college-level achievement via the following designations — AP Scholar with Distinction, AP Scholar with Honor, and AP Scholar.
WHAT IS AP?
The AP Program offers high-achieving, highly motivated students to take challenging, college-level courses and exams in high school. AP exams (administered in May) give students the opportunity to receive college credit, advanced placement or both from hundreds of colleges and universities that participate in the AP program.
CHS offers AP courses in the areas of mathematics, social studies, science and English.
AP courses make substantial academic demands on students. Students are required to do considerable outside reading and other assignments to demonstrate the analytical skills and writing abilities expected of college freshmen.
Students who earn AP awards and recognitions can include these academic distinctions on their résumés and college applications.
