21-22 Parent Scheduling Confirmation

Hello CMS families!  

As we shared in our original e-mail on March 12, we are currently working hard to plan for the 21-22 school year!  

Parents of students currently in grades 4, 5 and 6 who will be attending Chardon Middle School NEXT school year (21-22) are asked to log-in to Infinite Campus to review your child’s course requests for next school year.  To access this information, please: 

  1. Log-in to the IC Parent Portal  ** contact the main office for access **

  2. Click “More” at the bottom of the index bar 

  3. Select “Course Registration” 

  4. Confirm which child’s requests you would like to view. You can toggle between multiple children on the top, right hand side of the screen. 

  5. Click “21-22 Chardon Middle School”

  6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 with any additional children enrolled at CMS

This course request screen identifies the courses in which your child will be placed for their academic classes in addition their requested “specials” courses.  

**** Please note, if there are any concerns with a course listed, do not attempt to change or delete these courses.  It is imperative that you use THIS form for any desired changes. 


Please remember that these are requests for specials classes and not every one of them will be able to be honored.  The alternate course selection should also be reviewed and considered to prepare for this situation.  If students did not choose specials classes, and THIS form is not completed by parents by April 12, 2021, the school counselors will place students into specials classes that are available. 


As a reminder, during their 4th and 5th grade years, students have been exposed to all of the specials classes that we offer at CMS.  Prior experiences in these classes should be considered when making class selections for the 21-22 school year.  At CMS, our master schedule is built to closely align with the requests that we receive, as well as students’ academic placement.  We always strive to maintain efficiency in operations and build the master schedule to maximize staffing in order to meet students’ needs, create opportunities, and control expenses.  Given this, requests need to be carefully considered as this is the second and final opportunity for parents to “sign-off”on class placements and specials requests for next year.  


If you believe your child is not placed appropriately, if you would like more information about the optional summer math acceleration program, or if you would like to change your child’s “specials” requests, please click HERE, or go to the CMS website and submit a ‘Schedule Change Request’ via the provided link.  

To guarantee we are able to process these submissions, we ask that all requests be submitted by Monday, April 12, 2021.  After this date any changes will be contingent upon space availability.  After the close of the current school year, further schedule changes will not be considered.  

For additional information regarding course offerings and academic placement criteria, please refer to THIS e-mail sent to all parents on March 12, 2021.  


Please note that the district will be sending additional information regarding the potential of a continued virtual model for next school year, pending legislative approval.  That is a separate process and should not be considered at this time.
