CHS Science Lab Renovations Completed for Opening Day
Upgrades Will Promote High Achievement for All Students

August 16, 2023 — Chardon High School kicked off the 2023-24 school year today with its 100s hallway of classrooms now operational and set for success. Summer 2023 modernizing renovations were completed this month to Rooms 103 and 104, which serve as both classrooms and laboratories.

Severe damage to Rooms 103 and 104 occurred in December 2022 as a result of a flooding event that affected multiple classrooms at the school. The flood was caused by two interior pipes bursting due to freezing outdoor temperatures.

With a robust science curriculum, including chemistry, Chardon Schools provides the opportunity for students to learn from 14 different courses, including four Advanced Placement courses.

The CHS chemistry lab renovations provide:

  • Industry-standard safety protocols for chemistry labs, storage, and experiential learning.
  • New flooring, lighting, and paintwork.
  • New cabinetry, plumbing and fixtures for chemistry labs.
  • Emergency wash stations
  • Dedicated chemistry storage
  • Demonstration tables
  • Interactive flat-panel displays for direct instruction

CHS is now positioned to even better meet the academic needs of today's students and educators in the school's science courses of study wherein Hilltopper students historically attain high achievement.
