Did You Know?

Chardon High School has a long-standing history of embracing the opportunity to welcome AFS Intercultural Programs USA students — beginning with the arrival of Gunnar Lindstrom to Chardon from Sweden in 1966!

The school's partnership with AFS is still going strong 57 years later!

Host a Student in 2023-24!

Consider helping CHS carry on this tradition by being a host family. Singles, empty nesters, young married couples, families with or without kids are all welcome to host!

AFS Intercultural Programs USA, a non-profit organization that promotes intercultural understanding through student exchange programs, is currently seeking host families in Chardon for international students who will be arriving in August 2023!

The students are eager to experience American culture, enhance their English language skills, and make lifelong connections with their host families.

CHS & AFS Longevity

CHS was recognized in fall 2022 for being one of AFS' Top 75 Schools based on the number of AFS students the school has hosted since AFS was established!

CHS was also named a USA Medallion School in fall 2022 through inviting exchange student Navya Khemka from India — who was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State — to CHS during the 2022-23 school year!

Chardon families hosted two Chardon High School exchange students in the 2022-23 school year — Navya from India and Juan Panella Videla from Argentina — both of whom earned honorary diplomas from the high school at this spring's Class of 2023 commencement ceremony! Congratulations to both students!
