S.T.A.R.T.
(School Transportation Active Threat Response Training)
Chardon, OH July 28, 2023 — As part of the Chardon Local Schools Transportation Department’s annual in-service training, our bus and van drivers, under the leadership of Director of Transportation Josh Nau and Transportation Supervisor Andy Caballero, will be participating in S.T.A.R.T. (School Transportation Active Threat Response Training) on Aug. 2-3.
S.T.A.R.T., presented by Levine Security Solutions LLC of Chagrin Falls, OH, provides participants with both classroom instruction and practical exercises in areas that include emergency response, crisis intervention, and active threat response.
Superintendent Mike Hanlon stated: “We are pleased to offer S.T.A.R.T. for our Transportation staff to ensure we are applying up-to-date practices on school transportation. This program supports the District’s top priority of safety and wellness for all students and staff and aligns with our Success Plan 2023-28 goal of continuing to implement physical safety and security best practices to minimize potential emergencies and to ensure staff and first responder preparedness in the event of an emergency.”
