January 10, 2024 — Chardon Schools is fortunate to have such committed, hard-working PTOs — the Munson Elementary PTO hosted Toma the Mime (Thomas K. Johnson) through Mobile Ed Productions, Inc. on Dec. 19 to present Mobile Ed's interactive Young Authors Day program.

Toma, a one-person mime performer who studied with French actor and mime artist Marcel Marceau, brings his interactive programs to schools throughout the country to support creative writing curriculum.

Munson second-grade teacher Leigh Ann Ferguson stated, “Mobile Ed's Young Authors Day was a huge success! The students were absolutely mesmerized by Toma's performances and could hardly wait to get back to the classroom to write their short stories.”

The Dec. 19 program began with an all-school assembly wherein students were introduced to the art of mime.

Students then returned to their classrooms to write their own short stories. It was a productive combination of practicing the Portrait of a Hilltopper traits of collaboration and communication.

After the students constructed their stories, Toma held an afternoon assembly to perform the student’s creations.

Mrs. Ferguson added, “It was such a wonderful way to close out the semester. Thank you to the Munson PTO for funding this outstanding opportunity for our kids.”
