NEW! Portrait Feature Friday
A Student Initiative for District Social Media

October 12, 2023 — Chardon Schools is excited to announce an upcoming District social media series — Portrait Feature Friday — which launches this Friday to provide stakeholders with a weekly visual to the all-important question 'What is a Hilltopper?'.

The Portrait of a Hilltopper logo, including descriptions of each component, was first unveiled to the community via the District's Success Plan 2023-28, which was Board approved and published to the District website in January.

The upcoming social series — to be tagged as #PortraitofaHilltopper — will run every Friday on the District's social media pages: Facebook, Instagram and X/Twitter, showcasing one Hilltopper trait for an entire month through photos and captions of students in the classroom and beyond.

A STUDENT INITIATIVE

What makes Portrait Feature Friday especially unique is the community will have the opportunity to learn, through visuals, about the key components of a Hilltopper as seen through the eyes of a high school senior.

Portrait Feature Friday is a brainstorm of
Rebecca Fullerman, CHS '24, who is working part-time this school year as a Content Development Specialist for Chardon Schools.

Rebecca describes how her idea for Portrait Feature Friday came about, "I have been loving using the Portrait of a Hilltopper as inspiration and a stepping stone for so many of the communications projects."

This year's part-time internship for Rebecca not only supports the work of District Communications but also provides her with invaluable real-world experience while she earns credit through the high school's Educational Options independent study program.

For Portrait Feature Friday, Rebecca will be gathering content — stories and photos — from the District's schools and creating graphics to spotlight the series each week.

Chardon High School principal Doug Murray stated, "I am excited about the debut of Portrait Feature Friday. Rebecca is committed to high achievement in everything she does — academics; extracurricular leadership; and her embodiment of the District's Portrait of a Hilltopper. I look forward to her showcasing the Portrait in action in our schools through this creative social media series."
