November 20, 2023 — Thirty-three Chardon High School students journeyed to Case Western Reserve University Nov. 6-7 for the Model United Nations autumn conference. Run by the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, MUN is an educational simulation of the United Nations wherein students serve in the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real-world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country.

Through MUN, Chardon students become more engaged in and knowledgeable of international political issues while further developing their Portrait of a Hilltopper traits.

Our student delegates participated in various committees at the autumn conference, including the General Assembly, UN Office of Outer Space Affairs, and UN Economic and Social Committee. Applying communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills through advanced writing and negotiation, students expanded upon their personal development and career readiness.

Chardon’s MUN chapter is led by CHS Spanish teacher Kristen Niedzwiecki. Seniors Faith Fox, Madison Primc and Skylar Duval-Lewis serve as the club’s officers.
