Dear Parents and Community Members,
It is my honor and privilege to serve the Chardon Local School District as Superintendent of Schools. In my second year with the District, I continue working toward the following goals:
- Student Achievement – Working to ensure that the district addresses new academic content standards and new accountability standards in order to maintain/enhance high levels of student achievement.
- Collaboration/Communication – Continue to build important relationships with students, staff, and community that will forward the mission of CLSD.
- Strategic Planning – Engage a strategic planning process that will serve as a blueprint for moving the district forward in the next several years.
- Fiscal Management – Continue the significant efforts that have already taken place to manage our limited fiscal resources and to seek additional opportunities to strengthen our financial outlook.
Welcome to the CLSD web site. This site is designed to provide helpful information to parents, students, employees, and applicants and to better inform all visitors about CLSD and our many strengths and new opportunities. You will discover facts and information about academic programs, day-to-day operations, our Board of Education, and a great deal of other information. Most importantly, I hope you will sense our genuine commitment to providing the best education possible for every child.
If you visit one of our schools, you will find that schools today are far more rigorous than they were twenty or thirty years ago. Academically, more is demanded of our students every day in order to ensure that they are college and career ready and prepared to be productive citizens. With the ever-changing nature of the world and workforce, not only must today’s graduates be proficient in core academic subjects, they need to be critical thinkers, problem solvers and effective communicators. They need global awareness, financial, economic and civic literacy. These are 21st Century Skills that are in demand for all graduates, no matter what their future holds. Our top priority is to continue to respond effectively to these changes to ensure that all students are learning at higher levels and gaining the skills they will need to compete in an economy that runs on information and demands creativity and innovation.
Although we face continued funding reductions that have led to unprecedented budget cuts in the school district, through shared commitment, thoughtful planning and a strong accountability system, we will continue our work together to build an even better educational program that will inspire all of our students to achieve at high levels.
Please take time to discover who we are, and if you still have questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Again, welcome to our web site and Go Hilltoppers!
