Emergency Communication Procedures
As we observe in sadness and with sincere concern the recent weather events occurring in our Midwestern states, Chardon Schools would like our parents to be aware of the district's emergency communications procedures.  
Video Documentary on Heroin Problem
The Geauga County Opiate Task Force announces the premiere of its video documentary of the heroin problem specific to Geauga County.  The initial showing to the public will be on Wednesday, May 29th, at 7:00 PM.  
Munson Students Participate in Nature Scopes Program
Munson fifth graders have been seeing the beauty of nature, up close and personal, thanks to Geauga Park District’s Nature Scopes program.   
Cleveland Invention Convention Winners
Congratulations to Mrs. DeShetler’s fourth grade students for their outstanding inventions which were entered into the Cleveland Invention Convention at Strongsville High School on May 11th.  
heART of Geauga Arts Jam
On June 8th artists from across Northeast Ohio will gather in Chardon for the heART of Geauga Arts Jam to celebrate creativity and artistic expression in its many forms and you're invited to join the fun!  
Important Open Enrollment Information
Starting August 2013 the Chardon Schools will permit the enrollment of students who are residents of other school districts within the scope of the policies and regulations adopted by the Chardon Board of Eduation.  
Chardon Library Book Buddies
It's that time of year again! You can share your love of reading while encouraging Chardon’s youngest students to keep reading over the summer by becoming a Chardon Library Book Buddy. 
CHS Makes Newsweek Best High Schools List
Newsweek and The Daily Beast analyzed the data from thousands of public high schools to find the country’s best - those that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads. Congrats to Chardon High for making the list!  
School Board Announces New Superintendent
The School Board has selected Dr. Michael Hanlon to serve as the district's new superintendent beginning August 1, 2013.  Hanlon, who will be leaving his position as Painesville City Schools superintendent in July, will replace Joseph Bergant. 
27 Acts of Kindness at CHS
Spread some kindness and help make the world around you a happier place. Join Chardon High School’s  kindness campaign in honor of Chardon and Sandy Hook victims of violence.  
CHS Team Receives Actively Caring Award
During an Ohio Youth-Led Prevention Network Rally at the Statehouse on May 2, the Actively Caring Award was presented to Chardon High School for the resiliency and the caring community that was built around students at the school in the year following the tragic events of February 27, 2012. 
 
CMS Science Olympiad Takes 4th Place at State
Congrats to the Chardon Middle School Science Olympiad Team who finished 4th in the rigorous state competition held Saturday, April 27 in Columbus. The team did very well and we are so proud of their accomplishments.  
Understanding the Common Core Standards
A lack of consistency in education quality from state to state and a push from business leaders and colleges/universities for more rigorous standards led state governors in 2009 to develop a common set of rigorous learning standards.  
Summer Safety Village
Chardon Schools is proud to sponsor the Chardon Safety Village program geared for children entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2013. The program runs for two weeks, from July 29-August 9th. 
CHS Ranked in the Top 100 Ohio High Schools
Chardon High School has once again made the list of best high schools in Ohio and the nation, according to a recent article in U.S. News and World Report. 
Local Task Force is on a Mission to Educate the Community
The Geauga County Opiate Task Force was created to address the substantial increase in the illegal use of heroin, opiates, and prescription drugs in the county and to educate the community about this epidemic.  
CHS Steps Up for St. Baldrick's Challenge
Chardon High School students and staff (Topper Nation!) really did us proud, with the CHS St. Baldrick's team bringing in over $8,000 for kids cancer research.  
2013-14 School Calendar
The calendar for the 2013-14 school year has been approved by the Chardon Board of Education. First day of school for students is Monday August 26th. 
Meet Officer Shaw our SRO!
As a part of the community policing philosophy, Officer Mike Shaw of the Chardon Police Department has been assigned as the full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) for Chardon High School.  
ACADEC Team is Runner-Up at State Competition
Congratulations to the Chardon Academic Decathlon team who took home the runner-up trophy for the large school division in State Competition on March 8th.
